Course Description
Our Taking the Stage course is geared toward teen students of all levels. Students will learn and practice theater techniques, including stage language, body movement, characterization, memorization, creative staging, and voice acting. We will cover these topics by exploring a text and diving into those characters. This semester’s text is "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" by William Shakespeare! While looking into the text, we will also look into theater topics used with Shakespearean and classical texts, including scansion, tablework, universal lighting, and audience interaction. Students will study a different concept each week using the script of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," then prepare scenes from the play to perform for our end of semester showcase on the last day of class.
