Propose a Show!

Do you have a play that you'd like to produce, direct, or otherwise be involved in? Propose it for JTC to put on!

JTC Play Proposal Form:

What is your creative vision for this production?

At a minimum, your vision should answer questions like:
  • What is your creative vision for this production?
  • What feelings do you want to inspire in your audience?
  • What truths do you want to communicate to the audience?
  • What kind of experience do you want your actors and crew to have throughout this production?

Your vision may also include answers to practical questions like:
  • What time period is this play set in?
  • Will you be doing age-accurate casting?
  • Will your play be a traditional show? Or will it be an “immersive experience”, a la Fezziwig? Or will it be a Renaissance Show?
  • Do you have any specific concepts for lighting, sound, costumes, and sets?
  • How will you stage it? Thrust? Proscenium? In the round?
  • Why do you think JTC should perform this play now? Is it particularly appropriate to our community and/or culture right now? Does it fill a need?
    • (In the board’s opinion, “It just sounds like fun” is an acceptable answer to this question.)
  • What do you foresee being the biggest challenges for this production and how do you plan to handle them?

Proposed Directorial Team
Prior to making a formal proposal, you should “ask around” and gauge interest, so that you are able to list people who are interested in filling these roles: Producer, Director, Assistant Director, and Stage Manager. Proposals do not have to have firm commitments for all of these roles, and the board may suggest alternatives during the proposal process.

Your proposal is welcome to include other potential crew roles as well.

The company will provide the Technical Director, Marketing Director, and House Manager.

Cast Demographic Information
  • How many speaking roles?
  • How many female vs male speaking roles?
  • Does this play require extras?
  • Can this play involve children? Does it require children?
